1. Who we are
Energy Corridor Imaging LLC operates Geothermal Map at geothermalmap.com and is responsible for personal information processed through the service. In this policy, “Geothermal Map,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Energy Corridor Imaging LLC.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. When an account is created or used, we process information such as a username, email address, password hash, account permissions, and login timestamps. Account sessions allow us to recognize signed-in users.
- Information you send us. If you use our contact form, email us, request a tour or support, or submit a correction, we receive the contact details and content you provide. Contact submissions are stored for team follow-up. If you opt in to email updates, we also store your choice and the contact submission timestamps.
- Technical and security information. Requests to the service may include IP addresses, browser or user-agent information, requested URLs, timestamps, and response or error information. Hosting and security systems may record this information to operate and protect the service.
- Saved bookmarks. When you bookmark a plant or company, we store the selected record and the time it was saved against your account.
- Map interactions. Map and place-search services receive requests needed to display imagery, map areas, or search results. Search text and selected places may be sent to the relevant provider.
Our plant, company, news, and reference records are drawn from public and other research sources. These may contain professional contact information or names appearing in the source material. Contact us about inaccurate personal information in a record.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide access, authenticate accounts, display maps and search results, answer enquiries, maintain and improve the service, investigate errors, prevent abuse, enforce access and licensing limits, and comply with legal obligations.
Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide requested services or perform an agreement, for legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, to meet legal obligations, or with consent when required.
Email updates
Email updates are optional. We use your email address for these updates only when you tick the opt-in box on our contact form. A general enquiry or tour request does not automatically subscribe you. To stop receiving updates, use our contact form, choose General enquiry, and write “Unsubscribe” in your message. Our team will process your request.
5. Service providers and external websites
Information may be processed by providers that support hosting, email, map display, place search, and abuse prevention. We share information as needed to provide these functions, respond to your requests, comply with law, or protect the service and its users.
- Maps and search. Depending on the map or layer used, requests may go to MapTiler, OpenStreetMap, Google Maps or Places, and CCUS Map infrastructure. Providers may receive technical request information and the map area or search query requested. See the MapTiler Privacy Policy, OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy, and Google Privacy Policy.
- External resources. Map libraries, linked documents, news sources, and other third-party resources may receive standard technical information when your browser requests them. Their own privacy policies apply to their services.
We do not sell or rent account information. We may disclose information if required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or protect legal rights.
6. Retention and security
We retain account and correspondence information for as long as needed to provide services, respond to requests, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Operational logs may be retained for troubleshooting and security.
Session and security cookies remain for the period configured by the service or until removed through your browser. Saved bookmarks remain until you remove them or they are deleted as part of an account or privacy request. Separate server and security logs may have different retention periods.
We use access controls and other technical safeguards to protect information. No online service or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information outside your state or country; applicable protections depend on the provider and the laws that apply to the processing.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent and to complain to a relevant data-protection authority.
To make a privacy request, use our contact form and describe your request in the message. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some information may need to be retained for legal or security reasons. You can also control cookies through your browser and ask us to stop optional promotional communications.
8. Children’s privacy
Geothermal Map is intended for professional and research use and is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service and practices change. We will post the revised policy with an updated date and provide additional notice when required by applicable law.
